What we do

The market for artwork created by famous musicians has grown significantly in recent years. Prices for original pieces and limited edition prints are ever increasing as more and more people with a passion for music wish to own art created by and featuring their favourite performers.

Whilst few may have the ability to buy a high value piece of artwork for themselves, many would like to participate in the collecting and exhibiting of their favourite artist’s work – whilst making a profit as they do so. For an affordable investment, Syndicart allows the enjoyment of owning and trading a diverse portfolio of artwork as part of a group of like minded art fans.

Syndicart has been founded to collect, exhibit, and ultimately sell, collections of artwork within the theme of musicians and music. Original art and/or limited original prints from such legends as Ronnie Wood, Bob Dylan and John Lennon form the basis of Syndicart’s first collection. Recent additions to the collection include a stunning Andy Warhol print of Mick Jagger from the Rolling Stones (signed by both artist and Jagger) and an original painting by acclaimed street artist Temper, which reimagines an iconic Bob Dylan album cover.

"As a child of the sixties I was a huge fan of Bob Dylan and his contemporaries. I was only vaguely aware of him being an artist, but that vagueness was dispelled when my wife bought me a Dylan limited edition print in 2008 as our wedding present. Further purchases took place and eventually my friend at Castle Galleries in York where I live suggested I buy an original Dylan painting. This sounded like a good idea right up until the price of £120k was mentioned. It was at this point I came on the idea of a group of people buying art and sharing in the joy of ownership and the major capital gains possible from buying the right pieces at the right time. (Dylan's pieces have rocketed in price over the last few years).

I shared my thoughts with Castle Galleries who were excited by the idea and who have been active supporters in the venture so far. We now have a dozen or so shareholders, two being in the US, one in Belgium, one in Poland and the rest here in the UK. We have about £500,000 worth of art in our collection comprising of Dylan, Ronnie Wood and a John Lennon set of cells from the first ever pop video."

John Marlow - Director

"I've been collecting art primarily through Castle Galleries for the past 15 years and now hold a significant portfolio by a variety of artists, some original and some limited edition prints.

In recent years I became a big fan of the Bob Dylan Drawn Blank series and have now purchased some serious pieces from this collection. I would say that with Dylan you either appreciate his work or you don't. For me there is no half way house and I wanted to continue buying Dylan pieces.

In July 2013 I went to the Ronnie Wood viewing evening at Castle Fine Art in Bruton Street. I was immediately impressed by the whole RW collection and purchased a piece and at that time I was made aware of a proposed new art syndicate venture that had been proposed by Joe Davidson, a fellow engineer, and Tom Frank. Although I missed both Joe and Tom on the viewing evening, I was seriously interested in the concept of setting up a syndicate to purchase original artwork and limited edition prints of artists who are also musical icons such as Dylan. Wood and Lennon.

I met up with Joe in York and over a coffee we discussed the establishment of an art syndicate that would allow members to be involved at the sharp end in purchasing unique works that would normally be financially prohibitive. At the meeting I was impressed by Joe's straightforward manner and integrity and had no hesitation in expressing my interest. At a further meeting with Joe and Tom the deal was sealed and Syndicart was born and subsequently established as a limited company which quickly attracted ten or so investors with a common mindset i.e. to be able to invest in serious artwork from Castle Fine Art and have a bit of fun along the way."

Tom Frank - Director

I was approached by Joe and John as a result of my background in syndicating property and investments. The idea of syndicating artwork appealed to me and I was glad to get involved in Syndicart.

The beauty of investing in art over and above more traditional investment is that by its very nature it is an enjoyable and interesting field with a heat social scene behind it. Clearly any investment in the world of art should be seen as high risk from a returns point of view but equally the added benefits of being involved outweigh the higher risks providing it represents a relatively small proportion of your investment portfolio sand there is a wealth of historic evidence to prove that the correct art work can provide significant returns over the medium to long term.

I myself invested in Syndicart with little knowledge or interest in the art work but have become a keen if inexperienced art lover over the last year.

Over and above the artwork the attraction of Syndicart is the range of different people I have met and events I have attended in and around the art world.
