Marian grew up in a small village amongst the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, a farmer’s daughter at heart. Her two brothers had left home when she was still young, leaving her pretty much an only child. The freedom she was given allowed her mind to wander, her imagination to expand and give her time to draw...

Into her teens, Marian decided that her heart belonged in the theatre. This was her path for the next decade. Her artwork took a long break, although she would still touch upon it from time to time, designing costumes and painting stage sets. She graduated in Film, TV & Theatre at York St. John's.

During a film internship in Los Angeles, Marian was hospitalised, diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. This illness, which will remain with her forever, made her realise that life is fragile and to grab every opportunity with both hands. This mindset lead Marian to return to America is 2005 to take a Master of Fine Arts degree in Alabama. Here she became the first female Directing Graduate in the history of the programme, and their youngest ever Director. Marian taught here as a Professor and directed various stage plays. She remained in America for 6 years, working, teaching and experiencing life in a different culture.

Returning to the UK, Marian started work at Castle Fine Art in York. Being surrounded by art daily has encouraged Marian to begin drawing once more, working on commissioned portraits. She has produced several works where each piece is inspired by a different Bob Dylan song.

Marian is happily embracing this new direction and continues to pursue her art from her Yorkshire home.
